...You promised. You promised we'd be together. Forever...

Death is not the end...but maybe this FAQ will put an end to your insipid questions.

What is The Ghosts of Onigawa?

The Ghosts of Onigawa is a non-profit fan-made expansion designed by the Arkham.cards team for 1-4 players to be compatible with Arkham Horror: The Card Game by Fantasy Flight Games. It consists of an Investigator Expansion which contains 100 new player cards and a Campaign Expansion containing 8 new scenarios.

Can you tell me what's it about, without spoiling any critical story elements?

The story of The Ghosts of Onigawa principally involves a vacation gone wrong; while visiting a friend in the remote farming hamlet of Minakami Village, the investigators will uncover a wicked plot involving the recent disappearances of two young local girls...

I don't remember Lovecraft ever writing about samurai swords or creepy little girls; am I going insane?

No, but you will be! One of the the Onigawa cycle's chief aims is to expand the Arkham mythos to include some slightly more 'fantastical' elements from broader mythological milieus; specifically, the vast and terrifying wellspring of pan-Asian folklore. We'll leave the Lovecraft adaptations to the professionals at Fantasy Flight...for now.

I'm in. Where can I get this thing?

Right here! We support three flavors of releases for The Ghosts of Onigawa. Choose whichever suits your group best.

Aren't you a bearded white guy? Doesn't that make this cultural appropriation or something?

Absolutely not; I assure you that no one here at Arkham.cards has ever been able to grow a meaningful amount of facial hair. Jokes aside, I don't know how to answer this question, but I do think about it a lot. I consider myself an appreciator of Asian cultures, and I hope that my esteem and respect for their mythological traditions come through in the writing and design of the cycle. I am comfortable taking a certain amount of artistic liberties with the source material to better 'adapt' it to the Arkham format, but if you believe I have inadvertently made some sort of oversight or included some sort reference that is culturally offensive, I hope you will accept my sincerest apologies (and give me a chance to rectify the error before calling me a racist on social media and attempting to get me fired from my job or whatever).

Do you have some sort of soundtrack I can listen to while I play this, for maximum immersion?

You have great questions. In fact, the lead designer of The Ghosts of Onigawa has curated a spotify playlist of 15 tracks (a theme for each of the 6 custom investigators and 8 scenarios, plus a bonus for the epilogue) for your auditory enjoyment.

A bad/ridiculous/funny thing happened to me on the way to Onigawa. Who do I complain to?

If you uncover any sort of error, omission, or oversight in the design of any of the cards included in this expansion, please send us a note at feedback@arkham.cards. We also welcome trip reports; let us know what went right for your group, and what went horribly wrong. Your feedback is essential to our design process!
